STOP PRESS!

We are thrilled to announce that we have received a very generous grant from English Heritage.

In addition to our own fund raising efforts, we are fortunate that the trustees of our sister church, Sharrow St John's which closed last month want the work of God to continue in the area. They therefore decided that all proceeds the sale of their property should go towards our redevelopment.

We are truly grateful for these two generous
contributions.

This means that we shall be starting work on the spire and stone work early in the autumn of 2007.

REDEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Highfield Trinity has been a landmark in Sharrow since 1874. Throughout its history, it has contributed to the well-being of Sharrow and its diverse communities as a place of worship, learning, hospitality, community activity and social action. We want this continue, to re-create Highfield Trinity as a place:

-where vibrant worship affirms the presence of God in the community,
-where people and groups committed to peace, justice and well-being  can meet, relax and benefit from each other's company,
-where all people, especially those accustomed to being rejected, feel welcome and at home,
-which local people can feel proud of,
-which, as living stone, serves as one of the symbols of Sharrow's social, cultural, environmental and spiritual regeneration.

WORK STARTED ON STAGE ONE
IN NOVEMBER 2007
Watch this space for photos!
Work is prgressing very well. In June 2008 the contractors moved to the next stage which involved scafffolding the entire roof area and beginning the huge job of overhauling every tile!

At the same time we are drawing up exciting plans to brighten up the inside area - new heating, lighting and decorations are just the beginning. We soon hope to have plans for a new community meeting room with improved access.

  StageOne . Repairs:

Thanks to a grant from English Heritage we be able to carry out much needed repairs to the roof and spire. During 2005/6 there have been surveys, investigations and feasibility programmes. The work is likely to be spread over two years from autumn 2007. We shall also be doing some other essential work to the electrical system as well as looking at access to the church.

 Stage Two: the Vision

Lower Ground Floor: To create a place where people and groups committed to peace, justice and well-being can work, meet, and relax, enjoy and benefit from each other's company, and where community activities can take place. This will see the provision of further office space for community-based organisations

Higher Ground Floor: To create flexible space, for worship, reflection, meetings, conferences, exhibitions, concerts, etc.

Front Entrance: To create full access, and make the front of the building inviting and attractive

Upper Floor: To increase space available in the building
