Highfield Trinity Church What is Christianity?
| ||
|
For over two thousand years people of every country and every culture have discovered that through the story of Jesus Christ they have been brought closer to God. We don’t have many answers. Only God does! By entering into a relationship with God, through the teachings of Jesus Christ we look to serve him better with the life which God has given us. Life itself now has a new meaning. No failure or disaster can be beyond recovery. We believe that we can learn more about God and what he did in Jesus by worshipping – this involves praying, hearing from the Bible and thinking about what this means for us today.Christians worship together when they come to Church on Sunday and also at other times including on their own and during the week.The way we lead our lives is also part of our worship. You can read about Jesus in the Gospels. This tells us about his life, how he cared for all people, including those who no one else cared about. You can read about the way he made people whole again and also how he was treated badly by the authorities. This treatment eventually led to his death but that wasn't the end because the end of the book tells us how he rose again. We believe Jesus is still alive and works in the world through his people, the church and in the power of his spirit.Christians share an interest in Spirituality and believe this comes from God who is working in our world today. Good places to start reading about Jesus is the Gospel of Mark, and then try Luke and Matthew to discover some different things.
